What instrument do you want to learn?

James Landrum teaches guitar lessons in Dallas, Richardson, and Garland, Texas.

James Brett Landrum has been teaching and performing as a guitarist in Dallas since 2013 when he graduated from John Brown University. He is on staff in the worship ministry of CLife Church in Forney, lead guitarist for Top 40s band The After Party, and guitarist for the bluegrass quartet The Proper Bandits, as well as running a monthly 90s-themed live band karaoke. His influences include Tommy Emmanuel, Steve Lukather (Toto), and Mateus Asato( Bruno Mars, Tori Kelly). He also plays ukulele, mandolin, bass, piano, and harmonica.

As a teacher, James encourages students to balance technique with theory. His students have opportunities to learn any genre they choose while focusing on the technical details that lead to excellence. For the fall recital, each student will compose and perform their own original song, often with a band or backing tracks they recorded at Landrum Guitar Studio. In the spring recital, the studio rents the historic Texas Theatre in Oak Cliff and students record the audio and video for their own music videos on the big screen. Students will learn to read music, improvise, compose, and enjoy making music wherever they go.

My students have opportunities to perform on big stages and share music through exciting projects!
