Fall 2024
Thank you so much for joining me for another year as a full time music teacher! I created this little studio in 2019 after working for other music schools and feeling disconnected from their mission. Landrum Guitar Studio was founded to help students find community in music, whether that's playing a grandparent's favorite song for them, jamming with friends, or performing at a recital or open mic. Now I have taught over 7,000 lessons to more than 100 students, and I have witnessed so many young (and a few older) musicians really find something about their instruments that they find joy in.
Coming Up
This year we have several exciting things for your students to take part in:
November 17, 6-8 pm
Fall Songwriters’ Recital
We are having a Songwriters' Recital at Intrinsic BBQ and Brewing on the square in Downtown Garland! This event is open to the public, so people from all over can hear your students' original songs. Registration is due by October 28.
November 10
Rehearsal with the recital band at my home studio. Drums, bass, and guitar will help complete your song and get you ready for performance. There will be a 4 pm and a 6 pm time, chosen on the recital registration form.
December 14
Open Mic Night
Any student who wants can join me performing at the Open Mic at Opening Bell Coffee in Downtown Dallas. Signups are at 3:30, performances are from 4-6 pm. This is not my event, we are guests. But it is a fun performance opportunity!
March 31
Spring Music Video Recital
I am repeating the Spring Music Video Recital at historic Texas Theatre! These projects require some time investment from parents. I will be in communication with you about how to prepare ahead of time, so the week of you can just show up and enjoy the film.
April/May
Graduation Concert
Every year, I try to take my students near graduation to a concert. High school age students can help me narrow down which band we want to go see. We usually learn to play some of their songs before we go.
New Teacher! Introducing Cade Kellam
Cade is a singer songwriter and professional drummer from Arlington, Texas. He grew up playing drums at church as well as studying under Charley Pride’s touring drummer, Derek Spigener. He studied music at Dallas Baptist University and has since gone on to play drums professionally and loves teaching what he’s learned to the younger generation.
If you refer a student to LGS for Cade, you will receive a $50 credit on your bill!
